Final Trails for the Adaptive Squad were held at Caversham. This was my first invitation to trial as a Cox for the LTA 4+. Although I have been through GB trials process in athletics as a junior (as many rowing coaches have said, I’m probably the only Hammer thrower to change to Coxing) I still had the same feelings leading into the competition. I took the opportunity to flush the butterflies out my system by taking up the additional invitation to join the squad in their final weeks training at Caversham in preparations for racing.
The trial itself took place on Good Friday in the form of seat racing. Vicki Hansford, another Molesey member, successfully retained her seat for the LTA 4+. When it came down to the coxes we were all given one run each followed by an assessment made by each of the rowers. Although after good feed back, I sadly missed out on the seat this Regatta session. Although, left feeling disappointed I feel it’s only made me more focused to succeed in 2010 and hopefully get another Molesey member into the squad. I feel I have gained an invaluable experience I hope to take back to the Molesey squad and hope to add to our Henley campaign of 2009 after a break for university exams.
Good Luck Vicki for the first international of the summer in Varese, Italy 1st- 3rd May!!
