MOLESEY ATHLETES IN ACTION FOR GB ROWING TEAMS

Over the past two weekends Molesey’s Matt Tatlock and Ruth Walczak have been racing for GB Junior and U23 teams at Munich and Essen.  Both of these regattas are important stepping stones as they strive to make the teams for this years World Championships – the Juniors in France and the U23 in the Czech Republic.

Matt raced in the Junior Men’s 8 which won both days it raced against strong German and European competition at the Munich Junior International regatta.

Ruth raced in the U23 Women’s coxless four and also won both days convincingly over very strong European competition.

These results set both Matt and Ruth up for a successful summer international campaign.

As these two were racing, GB rowing announced it’s crews for the 1st World Cup to be held from the 29th-31st of May in Banyoles, Spain.  Molesey is well represented by the following members:

Andy Hodge – Men’s Pair
Tom Solesbury – Men’s Eight
Mo Sbihi – Men’s Eight
James Foad – Men’s Eight
Jenny Farmer – Women’s Eight
John West – Men’s Eight (Coach)

Congratulations to all our athletes and in particular Jenny and James for their 1st Senior World Cup appearance.  Molesey also has the Cam Nichol, Mel Wilson and Pete Marsland in training with the GB squad who we hope can push up into the senior teams for the later world cups and world championships.
