Some of you may have seen the green construction huts up at Molesey Lock recently. These are in place whilst the Environment Agency (EA) carries out work replacing part of the weir.
The work is estimated to take about 14 weeks and is scheduled to commence next week (approx. 23rd June).
As part of the preparation work they need to divert the stream and will be doing this by building a barrier constructed from large 1 tonne bags, that will be placed in the river.
For access and logistics purposes the barge and the dive team that will be placing these bags will be working from the downstream end of the landing stage for about 5/6 days, STARTING NEXT WEEK.
With HIAB lorries coming down Graburn Way and across the forecourt, in order to minimise congestion and risk of damage all parties are asked to take extra care when parking and also when leaving and arriving at the landing stage. It is anticipated that the early morning sessions will be those most likely affected, with works expected to start at around 8/9am.
The EA’s contractors (Mackley Construction) will be doing their best to work with the club and keep their activities to times when the club is less busy, but inevitably there will be some cross-over.
