Team Building Days

The Team Building Days at Molesey Boat Club are a success because we:
  • Motivate and inspire those who visit us
  • Promote strong team relationships
  • Show what you’re capable of achieving
  • Build confidence whilst having fun

Founded in 1866, Molesey Boat Club is one of the finest rowing clubs in the United Kingdom.  Ideally located near Hampton Court, rowers enjoy an outstanding stretch of the Thames between Molesey and Sunbury locks.  Molesey proudly caters for rowers at every level, from Novice to Olympic Champion, and currently boasts eight athletes in the GB squad, training to win at the 2012 Olympics.

A successful crew trains hard all year round, both on and off the water – They have focus, commitment and strength, but above all, they work as a team.

Rowing is a truly exhilarating team sport, suited to everyone.

Experience what it is like to be part of a winning team in an idyllic setting, away from the work environment.

Example of a Typical ‘One-Day Experience’

Your team will be welcomed by our friendly coaches and support crew who will introduce you to the basics of rowing, terminology, safety, and the importance of teamwork.

Then in the gym you will be taught the value of good technique on the rowing machine (ergo).  This will demonstrate each phase of the rowing stroke and you will learn that it’s not all about strength, but moving as one that counts.

Having completed the gym session, the team will then be introduced to the largest, fastest and most stable of the boats in a rowing club’s fleet - The Eight.  A rowing eight carries eight rowers and a cox, who calls the rowing commands to the crew.

Your coach will take you on the water where you will be safely supervised and instructed how to row effectively together.  In order to make the day even more interesting, we introduce an element of competition with a short regatta race against each other.  The culmination of the day’s race is fun and exhilarating.

Finally, it’s back to the clubhouse for a de-brief and some well-earned refreshments, giving an opportunity to reminisce on the day’s experience.

Options

Motivational Speaker
During the lunch or afternoon tea break there is an opportunity to have a motivational talk from one of Molesey’s GB or Squad Rowers.  The Athlete will share their experiences of what is required to reach the very top in their sport - their teamwork, commitment, focus, how they have overcome obstacles and what it takes to be a winner.

Video Appraisal / Edited Video Montage
Much can be learned from physically seeing what we are doing right and where we are going wrong.  Pinpointing specific training elements, both on the land and on the water, we can film and replay these throughout the day.
This can be a valuable learning tool in itself, plus if requested, we could also produce an edited video montage as a memorable record of the day.  As this would be for you to keep, you could share this with your colleagues, upload the video onto your website or play it back at your company meeting.

Photographer
As a reminder of the day we can provide a professional photographer to capture the highlights of the day and edit these into a digital album for you to keep.

Costs

As each company is different, we are used to tailoring a programme to suit your requirements.  Typically we organise a half or full day’s experience and would be happy to provide a cost for a package to suit your particular needs. Options costs are also available on request.
