Junior February Trials

Seven juniors travelled to Boston, Lincolnshire last weekend for the GB Junior February Assessments. With the event held over two days, each athlete was required to race the 5k time trial twice in different boat types.

Results were as follows:

  • Oliver Ayres (Coupe 2015) raced in a 2- with Dom Jackson from Hampton School finishing 5th on Saturday and 4th on Sunday.

  • Georgie Grant (Junior Worlds 2015) unfortunately did not finish her 1x on Saturday due to breathing difficulties but bounced back to compete in the 2x on Sunday and finish a solid 4th place with Lola Anderson from Surbiton High School.

  • Jasper Elliott, competing with Josh Burrows from Kingston RC and experiencing trials for the first time finished 41st on Saturday and 39th on Sunday.

Oliver and Georgie have both since been invited to further testing at the Spring Assessments at the end of March. They will be tested for a chance to compete at the Munich Junior Regatta in May.

J16s - Held as a development event to gain experience for the J18 trials.

  • Holly Dunford had a great event finishing 3rd in the single on Saturday and won the 2x on Sunday alongside Freyja Sendall from Reading RC.

  • George Wedlake - finished a creditable 13th in the single on Sat and 10th in the 2x with Felix Warren in Sunday.

  • Felix Warren - 21st in the single, 10th in 2x with George

  • Theo Darlow - 24th in the single.

Encouraging performances from all and great to see the younger members of the squad challenging at high levels.
