Junior Squad: Strong Performance at School's Head

The Molesey Junior Squad had a strong, but perhaps frustrating day at School's Head yesterday, taking one win, but three second places, a fourth and a sixteenth.

The win of the day was in Mixed Quads, a relatively unknown event comprising two boys and two girls. The crew was Owain Newman, Emma Duncan, Jake Grieg and Niamh Nolan.

In the Girl's events, both quads came second, with the Junior Girls 4x of Georgie Grant, Layla Wheeldon, Holly Dunford and Phoebe Truett losing out to the Henley winning club from last season Gloucester Hartbury by 3seconds. The J16 girls quad also took second but to a very strong crew from Nottingham RC by 25seconds. The final crew was a J16 coxed four who finished fourth.

For the Boy's, the premier crew was the School Coxed Four of Matthew Hardy, Oli Jones, Jasper Elliott and Oliver Ayres. After a tough race, having to deal with some tricky steering, they took another close second to St. George's College by 14seconds. The Boy's second crew was a School Quad who finished 16th.

The younger juniors are racing at the Oarsport National Junior Sculling Head today at Dorney Lake.
