Sad Passing Of David Croucher

It is with great sadness that we record the death of David Croucher who passed away on the 12 October 2019. David had been a member since 1954 and first represented the club at Henley in 1958 in the Wyfold Cup and going on to competing in a further five Henleys in both Wyfold and Thames Cup events until 1968. He was Vice Captain in 1966 and then Captain from 1967 to 1969 and in 1972. During the period which the club enjoyed significant success both at home and elsewhere in International regattas. David was extremely passionate about the clubs rowing performance from Junior to Senior levels but also wanted all those who supported the rowing activities such as gym coaches, rowing coaches, wives and girlfriends and all the "back room" members to be recognised for their personal part in making the club a leading example and a magnet for new members too. His inclusive leadership, his personal competitiveness, his motto of work hard play hard, his popularity and personal financial generosity to the Club brought about a strong spirit of camaraderie throughout the Club. David's funeral will take place at Basingstoke Crematorium (RG25 2BA) on the 28th October at 11am.
