Marlow Regatta 2015

June 23, 2015

The pressure is always high at Marlow Regatta, the last of the national regattas before the Henley crews race the qualifying races or line up for their first rounds.  This Saturday was no exception, and the MBC men entered six crews, including four senior boats, one composite, and one junior crew.

The Wyfolds four of Ali Douglass, Harry Glenister, Chris Rae and Liam Tustin continued a successful run, taking second place in the elite coxless fours, one length behind Newcastle University, and beating Tideway Scullers School into third by three quarters of a length. This resulted in them pre-qualifying for the Wyfolds Challenge Cup.

The Britannia four of Rupert Graham, Lee Rawlings, Sam Vye and Andy Warren were slightly disappointed with a fourth place finish in the senior coxed four, behind favourites Thames RC, Vesta and Kingston. However this was a step on from their last race at the Met; and they continue to be strong contenders for a successful HRR campaign.

The Thames Cup 8, featuring four Junior squad members, were pleased with a third place in IM1 VIII's, behind St Paul's School and Boston College, USA. The crew were pleased to beat the Thames RC second VIII by a canvas, and also pre-qualify for HRR.

There was also success for the Molesey scullers, with the MBC/TSS composite featuring Dave Bell, Fred Gill and Luke Moon finishing second in the elite quads, behind Leander, and also being awarded a coveted pre-qualification place in the Prince of Wales Challenge Cup as a result.

Thanks again to ISPS Handa for their continued support.
